SUMMARY:2020 VINE Technology Showcase
DESCRIPTION:The VINE 2020 Technology Showcase is on(line)!\nThis year the event will take the form a “watching party” on the afternoon of July 20  (this event will be reprised the following day) and a string of live webinars in the days that follow. \nRegister for the first watching party on July 20\, 4 PM to 5 PM  \nRegister for the repeat watching party on July 21\, 11 AM to 12 PM  \nYou must be a member to register\n \nVINE 2020 Showcase – Background\nThe first VINE Mobile Device Showcase was held in 2013. The thinking behind the first event was to provide a simple mechanism for K-12 schools to review laptop and tablet devices from all vendors on one day and that vision remains unchanged today. \nIn recent years the event has grown to have in the order of 150 decision makers from more than 70 schools and the agenda has expanded to include other relevant products and services. Key to the day has been cross-school conversation and an opportunity for face-to face interactions between vendors and school ICT Managers\, Business Managers and other key decision makers. \nDespite the many and varied impacts of COVID-19\, VINE is committed to ensuring the showcase continues in 2020\, albeit in a different format. \n\nThe format for 2020:\nStage 1 – Live watching party\n20 July 4:00PM to 5:00PM or 21 July 11:00AM to 12:00PM \nVINE will host a live event for VINE members to watch a video pitch (of up to 2 minutes) from each vendor.  (These videos will also be hosted on the VINE website for members to access and review post event). RSVP for the viewing party by clicking on your preferred time above and registering.  \nStage 2 – Member discussion\n 1 – 30 July\nHave questions about a particular vendor? Have feedback about a vendor you’d like to share?  Login to the VINE Discourse Forum to ask questions or provide feedback to other members. The purpose of these discussions is to provide an opportunity for members to have open conversation with other members about their experiences with vendors\, services or functionality of product. \nStage 3 – Live webinars with vendors\nFollowing the live watching party\, Schools are encouraged to attend a webinar with vendors of interest for a more detailed exploration of their products/services and have the opportunity for focused Q&A.  \nThese sessions will take place over the two weeks between Tuesday\, 21 July and Thursday\, 30 July. Each webinar will be hosted and facilitated by the VINE Committee. \nWebinar schedule \nHow will this work?\nVendors provide:\n\n~2 minute pitch video tailored specifically for Victorian K-12 schools – essentially VINE members. This will not be an ad that people can watch anywhere and will be made specifically for the event. The goal of the pitch is to attract people to a live webinar. The production value of the pitch video will likely not be high\, but the content should be fresh and creative.\n\nVINE provides:\n\nA “watching party” (On July 20\, repeated on July 21) for members to attend and view the pitch videos\nVendor pitches will be published on the VINE website (members only section)\nRegistration for a live webinar with the vendor to ask questions / follow up\n\nOther considerations\nMembership requirement\nTo access the showcase attendees must be a VINE member. Joining VINE is currently free using the COVID-19 membership option (you must be employed by a school directly to join VINE). This free category will be closed after the 2020 showcase.

SUMMARY:Moores legal presentation on data security and privacy during remote learning

SUMMARY:*POSTPONED* Term 1 Meeting - Emerging Trends in Edu
DESCRIPTION:*** UPDATE 11/03/2020 ***\n \nAfter some discussion with the VINE Committee we have decided to postpone our first meeting which was scheduled for Monday\, 16/3/2020 at ISV. \nThe decision to do this was made in recognition that many of us are IT leads in our respective schools and are heavily involved in the response to the Covid-19 situation. \nAlthough we won’t be meeting in person on Monday\, it is still possible to share\, learn and grow via our VINE Forum. A dedicated category has been created for VINE members to share their approaches to the current situation or to ask questions of others who may be able to help. \nWhile most of the agenda for Monday’s meeting was not time critical\, we were planning to hold our AGM on the day. The AGM will be held at the next VINE meeting in Term 2. \nWe plan to re-schedule this meeting at a later date. \n*** /// *** \nThe term 1 meeting is focused towards teachers\, e-learning coaches and IT management\, and sincerely appreciate the support of the ISV in hosting this event. \nWe have a range of speakers who will explore what different schools are doing in the world of technology and how this translates to the classroom and the verifiable positive impact?  We know that pedagogy is evolving along with the varied teaching staff use of technology\, and looking forward to hearing from practitioners about what ‘good’ look like in terms of the role of technology in the learning and teaching process? \nAgenda is currently being finalised and will include the VINE AGM.  Details available in the coming days!

SUMMARY:AIS ICT Management and Leadership Conference
DESCRIPTION:This is not a VINE Event\, but is relevant to VINE members.\nA full agenda and registration details can be download from here. \n2019 ICT Management and Leadership Conference: Is comfort the enemy of progress? \nWe often feel comfortable – it’s good when everything is going well\, and it’s natural to stop and enjoy it for a while. But technology doesn’t stop. \nDevelopment is constant and the longer you wait the further things move ahead of you until you’re in a frantic race to catch up. Stepping out of our comfort zone requires extra effort\, energy and determination. And with it comes the risk of failure… what if we get it wrong? What if we look silly? Will it be worth it in the end? Will I stand alone? What if I fail? \nBut what if it succeeds and helps ICT delivery? If we are going to strive for progress\, whether professionally or personally\, we have to get comfortable with the idea of being uncomfortable.

SUMMARY:VINE Special Event - Darktrace
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to a special VINE seminar with Darktrace on the topic of cyber artificial intelligence (AI) – and how to trust AI to fight back in real time. \nThe education sector is full of intellectual property\, with many educational institutions embracing digital applications to better facilitate learning and enabling students to use personal devices on the network to enrich their educational experience. This simultaneously creates more network vulnerabilities and opportunities for cyber-attacks\, adding pressure on lean infrastructure teams responsible for protecting users and sensitive data. How can the security teams defend their institution\, regardless of network size or complexity? \nDarktrace is today the most widely-deployed application of AI in the enterprise. From our experience across 7\,000 deployments worldwide\, Darktrace will present on: \n\nThe current cyber-threats specific to the education sector\nHow AI’s autonomous response decision-making works (and how to trust it)\nDarktrace’s predictions for the evolution of automated threats\nA live demo of the Threat Visualiser\, using Carey Baptist Grammar School’s network environment\n\nThe speaker at this event will be Steven Archibald\, Information\, Communication and Technology Manager at Carey Baptist Grammar School. Steven will speak about his experience with Darktrace\, during the Proof of Value (POV) and how Darktrace’s machine learning and AI technology is helping Carey to defend against cyber-attacks and provide total network visibility. \nWhere: Carey Baptist Grammar School\, 349 Barkers Road\, Kew VIC 3101. \nLunch will be provided at the conclusion of the seminar. \nPlease note that registration for this seminar is required. Attendees will need to provide their mobile phone number and WWC and/or VIT numbers. This is a requirement of schools and VINE in regards to best practice for child safety.
