SUMMARY:Computational Making & Learning for Creative Educators - The Language of Computation
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Gary Stager is bringing an exciting new workshop to Melbourne\, Victoria 27 February 2026! \nComputational making recognizes that the future is computational. Making things with code expands the creative canvas\, supercharges mathematical thinking\, and positions learners to explore the frontiers of nearly any discipline. \nDeveloping computational fluency allows students of all ages to solve problems\, make cool things\, and make things work. Exciting new software tools allow teachers and students to engage in computational making without the barriers posed by syntax in traditional programming languages. \nThis workshop’s playful and practical experiences will help any educator shape the learning environment to support computational making and help students learn and do in ways unimaginable before. This approach offers an optimistic learner-centered vision of artificial intelligence that amplifies human potential grounded in timeless progressive traditions. \nProject-based learning (PBL) appeals to many educators\, even those who don’t know where to start or are unclear what exactly constitutes a project. By recasting PBL as a “Learning Adventure” we can celebrate connections\, wonder\, inquiry\, research\, and depth. Participants will be inspired to level-up and create learning adventures in their classrooms using exciting new software environments and a project-approach. \nThe Workshop’s Learning Adventures Include\n\nComputational design with Turtle Art\nDesigning microworlds with Snap!\nPhysical computing with the BBC micro:bit\nVibecoding\nThe Wolfram Notebook Assistant + LLM Kit\n\nWhat’s Included?\n\n\n\nFull-day hands-on workshop\nCopy of the new book\, The Learner’s Apprentice – AI and the Amplification of Human Creativity ($47 value)\nLight lunch

SUMMARY:Is Your Business Ready for a SOC and SIEM? Real World Case Study
DESCRIPTION:For Haven Home Safe\, the answer to the above question didn’t come from technology alone. It came from systemising the foundations first\, clarifying processes\, aligning teams and setting the business up to get real outcomes from day one. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJason Osewald\, Senior Technical Architect at Haven Home Safe\, has been at the centre of this journey. Working closely with Phillip Souter from SecMatters\, Jason co-designed a tailored Security Operations Centre (SOC) & Security Information Event Management (SIEM) service with SecMatters that aligned with Haven Home Safe’s unique threat environment and strategic priorities. \n\n\nNow\, Jason is ready to share his story to empower other IT and security leaders to navigate complexity with confidence\, build resilience and design solutions that truly fit their organisation’s needs.\n \nWhat will be covered?\n Readiness checklist: What every organisation should have in place before implementing a SOC and SIEM. \n Co-designing a SOC & SIEM: How co-designing enabled rapid uplift without black-box overheads. \n Real-world lessons: Haven Home Safe’s challenges\, quick wins and what they’d do differently. \n “Systemising the Foundations” Blueprint: Jason’s will breakdown his blueprint for success. \nWho should attend?\n CIOs\, CISOs\, and IT leaders responsible for resilience. \n Organisations considering a SOC and SIEM but unsure of readiness. \n Teams wanting practical insights from peers who’ve done it. \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Webinar – Looking Under the Covers: Why Did Azure Firewall Score 0%?
DESCRIPTION:CyberRatings.org recently published its Cloud Network Firewall test results – and Azure Firewall received a 0% effectiveness score. That headline raised eyebrows\, but what does it really mean? \nIn this session\, Codify will be joined by Keysight to take you behind the scenes and examine the evaluation in detail. We’ll unpack how the testing was conducted using Keysight’s Cyperf methodology\, why Azure Firewall scored so low – alongside other cloud-native firewalls and what it means for your cloud security strategy. \nWe’ll also explore why Fortinet FortiGates continue to be a strong choice for securing hybrid Azure environments\, especially when architectural limitations of native tools come into play. \nWhether you’re already running workloads in Azure or planning your cloud journey\, this is your opportunity to understand the tools\, the testing\, and the implications for your security posture. \nBENEFITS OF ATTENDING\n\nCut through the hype with a data-driven look at Azure Firewall’s effectiveness\nUnderstand the operational risks of relying on built-in firewalling for critical workloads\nExplore practical alternatives and integration patterns for hybrid and multi-cloud environments\nHear directly from experts in security testing\, Azure operations\, and next-generation firewall

SUMMARY:Fortinet Fast Track Workshop - SD-Branch: LAN Edge Wired and Wireless
DESCRIPTION:Fortinet has been named a Leader in the Gartner Quadrant for Enterprise LAN and Wireless.\nRegister for this Technical workshop to understand why Fortinet is being adopted so heavily beyond the Firewall. \nEnterprise networking and security teams are struggling with evolving their WAN and branch office IT architecture to support digital transformation. A typical branch office consists of multiple point products\, creating both security and complexity challenges. IT teams are looking to consolidate these point products to increase agility and save money\, while improving the security and visibility of network access at the branch office. \nFortinet secure access architecture\, powered by FortiLink\, is uniquely suited to SD-Branch deployments\, with Ethernet switch and wireless access point management built into the same platform that drives our Secure\nSD-WAN solution\, the FortiGate\, and FortiOS. \nIn this workshop\, participants learn how enabling FortiLink between FortiSwitch\, FortiAP\, and a FortiGate\, integrates the devices into the FortiGate network security platform. Thus\, the FortiSwitch and FortiAP can be managed directly from the familiar FortiGate interface or via the FortiManager. \nThis single-pane-of-glass management provides complete visibility and control of all users and devices on the network\, regardless of how they connect.

SUMMARY:‘Can schools achieve informed consent with digital technology?’ - a Digital Child x ACMI seminar
DESCRIPTION:Australian schools are now bursting with digital technologies. Digital platforms are used to enrol students\, deliver learning content\, and communicate with parents\, and there is increasing use of facial recognition technologies and other ‘smart’ devices in classrooms. \nThis is indicative of the growing digitalisation of schools and society\, but it introduces a range of questions and concerns. How can schools inform their community about the technologies that are being used?  Can schools and education authorities access the personal information the technologies need to work? \nOn the one hand schools are responsible for educating students about using digital technologies\, but on the other hand they must protect students’ and teachers’ digital privacy. How can schools achieve this balance\, while ensuring that parents are not overwhelmed?  What information\, knowledge and understanding is necessary to achieve informed consent? – especially when data processing is often opaque and hidden from view. \nIn this panel discussion\, we will discuss these competing tensions and ask with increasing demands for digitalisation\, is it possible for schools to actually achieve informed consent? \nNote: this event is in person and also online. If you select online attendance\, you will be sent the webinar link closer to the event date. \nPlease join us immediately after the seminar for canapes and drinks\, and the opportunity to chat to our panellists. \nOUR PANELLISTS \nDuane Cox\, Chief Innovation Officer\, Schoolbox \nDuane brings forth a rich background in education\, accumulating over a decade of experience as both an educator and a leader in educational technology.
